Operation Christmas Child Shoe box Appeal 2017

This year, Swan Lane again helped children less fortunate than ourselves by putting together shoe boxes full of toys and useful things. The shoe boxes will travel all over the world and will be greatly received!
The School Council helped organise the collection and distribution of the boxes and even helped pack spare boxes with extra items that were kindly donated.
We are pleased to say that a massive 67 boxes were created this year, almost doubling last years total!
Mr Forrester and the School Council would like to thank everyone involved for their generosity and support.

Poppy Appeal Launch

Members of the School Council and year 5 were invited to take part in the launch of this year's Poppy Appeal.
The children walked down to Abbey Bridge, where we were met by ex-service men and Mrs George, who is organising the appeal in the town.

The School Council will be selling poppies and other Poppy Appeal items over the coming weeks.

Parental Consultations

As part of their duties, the School Council were asked to stay behind each night of the parental consultations to assist parents in finding their way around school.

The children did a marvelous job, being incredibly polite and professional.

Thank you to both the children and parents / carers for their support.

Quiet Area Development

Mrs Roberts and the Senior Leadership team have been thinking about developing the quite area.
We invited a company to come and help us create some designs and members of the school council were heavily involved in deciding what things the children would like.
We even were put to work, measuring the area and drawing up a plan of the grounds!

Hopefully a design will be sent back to the school and we will express our opinions.
